This must be my all time favourite book!
I purchased this hardback book when I visited New York shortly after the 911 bombing. It has been my ‘go to book’ ever since. It has highlighting all over it, it has lost it’s cover, but I go back to it again and again when I feel I need to get back on track.
What I like about this book, is that it operates a B-Alert system and I first started my morning routine way back then, long before the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, which I will be reviewing at a later date. I found this system really easy to implement and this was my first realisation just how habits form good or bad outcomes in your life. The B-Alert system, is perhaps the first thing to implement into your everyday routine!
It also introduced me to the concept of how to plan and implement SMART goals and the importance of writing them down. I wrote several goals down that year, and they all came to fruition.
Scott DeGarmo, editor in chief of Success Magazine, says “it is a powerful and inspiring book that you will want to read again and again,”. This has been so true for me, I have read it over and over… and I still get in down when I feel my life is getting out of kilter.
I was able to make a vision, implement my own morning routine, make regular reviews of my life and get it back on track, when sometimes, as life does, take you off track, many, many times!
I particularly like the chapter – “It’s not all Hocus Pocus, it’s all about focus” this sums it all up for me in a nutshell!
The chapter about “Saying No” especially made me realise how to say no to toxic people and things that no longer server a purpose on my like… It’s a lot like pruning a tree. Once you cut out the dead and diseased bits, the tree can then grow strong and healthy.
Finally, although it has taken me years to understand the importance of dealing with unfinished business, this probably was the last thing that I have implemented into my life. I now feel so much freer and less burdened, I feel I have loads more energy and I am no totally focused in moving on with my life. I think after reading “Necessary Endings” by Henry Cloud which I will review on another book review, did I totally understand why it is necessary to clean up.
Not only is this a very good read, it also has many exercises for you to do, and please do do them! As they say, knowledge is power, but only if you use it!
This book has been updated since the one I purchased and it is available as a paper , Kindle and as an Audible book, I promise you, this book is the book to read and it will definitely change your life, like it has changed mine.
Please leave a comment below if you have read this book, what was the single factor that this book has changed your life?
Marketing for small businesses means understanding your environment, consumers, and how a small company can position themselves even in the most competitive marketplaces.
Marketing is about getting your business known and building your position within the marketplace.
Small businesses don’t always have a very big budget for marketing, so they have to do things a little slightly differently than big business in order to grow their presence, increase results, and meet business goals and get those all important customers and sales.
This week I am talking to Keshia Stewart from Teachtech Solutions, who recently set up her recruitment business, and when I say recently, I mean it just three months old.
On this interview Keshia gives some amazing tips from how to stop feeling lonely on to how to find a mentor.
So, this week I am going to be looking at CPD, continuous professional development, what it is and why do you need it.
I have added CPD training courses to my suite of courses and this week I will be talking with Lorna Trent from Parrotenterprises who runs a networking CPD course. You can find Lorna at www.parrotenterprises.co.uk.
